Our climate is breaking down. With rising seas and more frequent extreme weather events putting millions of lives at risk, urgent action needs to be taken at every level.
Harrogate district is failing to do what's necessary locally to address this crisis. The Conservative-led council has blocked a Liberal Democrat motion to declare a Climate Emergency, which would have made it the first in the country to commit it to taking urgent action to achieve net zero carbon by 2030.
We're calling on Harrogate Borough Council to declare a Climate Emergency and establish a Citizens' Assembly, a representative group of residents across the district to find bold solutions to our common problem.
I THE UNDERSIGNED CALL ON HARROGATE BOROUGH COUNCIL TO DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY, ESTABLISH A CITIZENS' ASSEMBLY, AND WORK TOWARD NET ZERO CARBON BY 2030.
